Every practising lawyer in Syria must be a registered member of the Syrian Bar Association with a valid annual licence. Ask for the lawyer's bar card or registration number before engaging. Working with unlicensed "intermediaries" can void your legal position and, in some cases, constitute an offence.

The power of attorney (wakala)
In Syria, court representation requires a power of attorney issued at the notary office (Katib al-Adl) or a Syrian embassy if you live abroad.
